The Research group OKoło is open to all the students of the Jagiellonian University interested in Asian travel. Its main purpose is the popularisation of knowledge about Asian cultures and the methodology of conducting research while travelling. This in turn is designed to help the students realise their dreams connected with travelling to the Far East. In order to meet the students' expectations, Około organises a series of meetings attended by scholars (the cycle "How through Asia") as well as other enthusiasts (the cycle "Pulled by Asia") who eagerly share their experiences. Około also prepares projections of movies concerning the subject of Asia and organises excursions to Buddhist centres in Kraków.
